At
Grace Lutheran Church we do not
teach the doctrines of men, but the Word of God. God is Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit, from all eternity.
God - the Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit - is the Creator of the universe and therefore the Creator of
mankind.
Mankind rebelled against God. Because
of our sin, any attempts to please God apart from Christ are
impossible. We need forgiveness and new life. God provides it
through His grace.
The Son was made flesh in Jesus
Christ, was crucified and died on the cross for the sins of the
world, and was raised bodily from the dead on the third day, with
life and salvation for all who believe in Him. He ascended to the
right hand of the Father. He is the only hope for sinful man. In Him
alone we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone.
We cannot by our own reason or
strength believe in Jesus Christ or come to Him, but the Holy Spirit
has called us by the Gospel, sanctified and kept us in the one true
faith.
|
We
believe, teach, and confess the doctrine of the evangelical,
universal faith as it is taught by the Holy Scriptures (Bible) and
faithfully confessed in the Book of Concord of 1580.
The
Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God and the only source
of instruction for doctrine and practice, therefore we believe:
Through
God’s grace He gave His Son, Jesus Christ, to live, suffer, die, and
rise again as our only Savior.
God applies the gift of grace to us through His Holy Word and
sacraments, through which He reveals His will, His love, and His
plan of Salvation.
In the Sacrament of Holy Baptism
He gives us forgiveness of sins, the gift of His Holy Spirit, and
everlasting life and salvation.
In the Sacrament of Holy Communion
He gives us his body and blood in, with, and under the bread and
wine for the forgiveness of sins, life and salvation.
We believe that the faith
necessary to believe that God gives us these gifts of grace is
itself a gift God works in us. We cannot boast of our belief as our
own decision. |
For
by grace are ye saved,
through faith, and that not of
yourselves, it
is the gift of God.
Not of works, lest any man
should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten
Son,
that whosoever believeth
in Him
should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
